Lecture Series: Environment and Health in the Lebanese home
March 3, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeThis coming Thursday, March 3rd, we meet to hear Dr. Dani Mouawad speak on a very interesting and stimulating topic, “The Lebanese Traditional House: Where architecture meets Health”. Dani brings a wealth of background information on the interaction of the environment and human habitation for the purpose of promoting health and healing. You will gain a new appreciation of one aspect of what Dani calls the “EcoHeal”, how traditional Lebanese house and garden nurture and maximize wholesome living.
Dr. Mouawad is the founder of the nonprofit organization Ecoheal (see the website www.ecoheal.org to view the home that Dani built and various family activities) with a focus on adapting the living environment to promote healing spaces. In his talk Dani will review how the traditional Lebanese house underwent a distinct evolution from the 16th century till the early 20th century. As a result of a meticulous understanding of the land and the environment and taking into account permaculture-like practices that have been and will continue to contribute to human heath and resilience. Among many other issues, we will hear how the combination of herbs and vegetables, so common in the Lebanese diet, contribute to health and well-being.
Come join us this Thursday, March 3RD, at 7 pm at Baytna (421 Horizon Dr. in Raleigh).
We look forward to seeing you and your friends.
