The Lebanese American Community in North Carolina dates back to the early 1890s. The new immigrants brought with them their business acumen and enterprising spirit, established close families and strong communities, and enriched the economy and social fabric of the state. For more than 120 years, their kitchens have enthralled our senses with recipes crafted across generations under the Mediterranean sun. Their music and dance continue to fill our festivals and neighborhoods with sights and sounds that convey the richness and vitality of Lebanese culture. Their warm hospitality transforms acquaintances into friends, creating a close sense of community and camaraderie.
The Lebanese American Community is spread across the State, from New Bern and Goldsboro to Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, to Greensboro and Charlotte. A number of Lebanese Americans have distinguished themselves in the field of business, academia, public service and the professions. A number of organizations are active in the area, giving voice to the Lebanese American community and holding a number of festivals and vibrant activities
The Triangle Lebanese-American Center (TLAC) is a major non-profit organization that is non-political and non-religious serving the community and working to promote Lebanese culture and understanding. It was started in 1986 by a group of Lebanese people who were passionate about Lebanon and wanted to preserve and share our culture.
